When you think about "emo" what comes to mind?
Well here's your lesson on the new Fashion Takeover.
THE MUSIC
The style originates from "Emocore", which is a type of music that started during the mid-1980's during the hardcore punk movement, in Washington, DC. The term "emocore" comes from "emotional hardcore".
A band named
"Embrace"
was one of the few pioneers.
Emocore resurfaced in the 1990's thanks to bands like "Jawbreaker" and Sunny Day Real Estate. And NOW in the 2000's, we have bands like
"Fall Out Boy"
"My Chemical Romance" and
"Jimmy Eat World"
still keeping the confessional and, somewhat, hardcore music alive.
THE STYLE
Emo style of dress is not dark. The vintage clothes, dark make-up and particular hairstyles actually show emotion. You can complete this look easily, with colored (or non) skinny jeans, a screen tee, converse chuck taylor's and colorful (or non) accessories. The trick is the attitude. Be confident. Dress for your mood. You can say it's like wearing your emotions on your face, only you're expressing yourself through the LOOK.

PHH gives this Fashion Takeover 3 thumbs up!
EMO MUST HAVES for perfecting the style
The TOP
A simple Vintage t-shirt. This can be found in a mall or in a thrift store.

The BOTTOM
Most "emo" looks are complemented with a pair of "skinny" or "fitted" jeans. The best place to get these is where ever you love to buy your jeans. Most stores are carrying them now!

The Shoe
Any sneaker or shoe will due, but to stick to the root the CHUCK TAYLOR will do.

The Accessories
Bracelets, neck-ties or what ever you accessorize with. Doesn't have to match, remember YOU are wearing YOUR emotions

&& The EYELINER
The more liner the more "emo". Don't go crazy, just go CRAZY!! You wear this alone or paired it with colored eyeliner and eye make-up.

While this doesn't COMPLETE the look, this will have you well on your way. GOOD LUCK.
